Berlin, Germany: It's claimed to be "the smartest sensor ever created". Allterco Robotics' new Shelly Motion smart home sensor responds in less than 200 milliseconds, turning on lights and sending a motion-detection notification to a smartphone, it also boasts a long, one-year battery life.

"Shelly Motion can send information to your smartphone or let's say, I don't know, turn on the lights in just two hundred milliseconds when motion is detected," says communications manager Atanas Srebrev.

  • "This actually covers all requirements of the security systems and makes the device the smartest sensor ever created."
  •
The Sofia-based company also claims the motion sensor won't be accidentally triggered by passing pets, thanks to artificial intelligence that establishes the optimal settings for each home.
  • "With its more than 200 sensitivity levels and three additional functions for motion settings, you can rest assured that your pet won't be detected as a dangerous object," says Srebrev.
  • Before leaving, Sebrev also presented the company's vision for smart sensors in the future, perhaps being used on other planets.
  • "Just imagine, you're enjoying your time here on Earth and suddenly you get a notification about, say, an unauthorized movement in your office on Mars," he says.

"Elon Musk, if you're watching, you're the guy."

IFA electronics trade show is set to continue till Saturday, September 5.

The annual Berlin trade fair is going ahead, despite a rise in the number of daily new COVID-19 infections across Germany.
