Cupertino (California): Apple launched iPhone 12, 12 Mini, 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max models. The elevated new design of the 6.1-inch iPhone 12 and 5.4-inch iPhone 12 mini are as beautiful as they are durable, the company announced.
Apple boasted about the 5G capabilities and brought in Verizon CEO Hans Vestberg to champion the carrier's network. 5G is supposed to mean much faster speeds, making it quicker to download movies or games, for instance.
But finding those speeds can be a challenge. While telecom operators have been rolling out 5G networks, significant boosts in speed are still uncommon in much of the world, including the U.S. There are no popular new consumer applications that require 5G.

Expected Launch of four new iPhones on October 13 by Apple and the entry-level iPhone 12 to come with 64GB storage
iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max
- The top versions, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max will be available in 128GB, 256GB and 512GB models in graphite, silver, gold, and pacific blue, starting at Rs 119,900 and Rs 129,900, respectively.
- Apple's iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max features a new lidar sensor on the back – a technology first introduced on the iPad Pro in March.
- iPhone 12 will be available in India beginning October 30.
- Pre-orders for iPhone 12 begin from October 16 and availability from October 23 globally.
iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Mini
- iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Mini will be available in 64GB, 128GB and 256GB models in blue, green, black, white and red colours, starting at Rs 79,900 and Rs 69,900, respectively.
- iPhone 12 mini will be available for pre-order beginning November 6 and in stores beginning November 13.

- Featuring the most 5G bands on any smartphone, iPhone 12 models offer the broadest 5G coverage worldwide.
- Models in the US support millimeter wave, the higher frequency version of 5G, allowing the iPhone 12 to reach speeds up to 4Gbps, even in densely populated areas.
- iPhone 12 models also feature Smart Data mode, which extends battery life by intelligently assessing 5G needs and balancing data usage, speed, and power in real-time.
- Apple also unveiled the HomePod mini, the newest addition to the HomePod family. HomePod mini will be available in white and space grey colours at Rs 9,900.

HomePod mini is designed to work with Apple Music, podcasts, radio stations from iHeartRadio, radio.com, and TuneIn, and in the coming months, popular music services including Pandora and Amazon Music.
Although other parts of Apple’s business are now growing more rapidly, the iPhone remains the biggest business of a technology juggernaut currently worth about $2 trillion, nearly double its value when stay-at-home orders imposed in the U.S in mid-March plunged the economy into a deep recession.
The pandemic temporarily paralyzed Apple’s overseas factories and key suppliers, leading to a delay of the latest iPhones from their usual late September rollout. The company also closed many of its U.S. stores for months because of the pandemic, depriving Apple of a prime showcase for its products.
Apple India Store Online on Friday started accepting pre-orders for the newly-launched iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro with some exciting trade-in offers.
The iPhone 12 and the iPhone 12 Pro are the first devices in the 2020 line-up to go on pre-orders in India and will be available from October 30.
Those who pre-book iPhone 12 can opt for either Rs 5,637 per month via the EMI route or buy the basic variant even for Rs 47,900 with trade-in.
The customers can effectively get up to Rs 22,000 off with Apple trade-in to grab a new iPhone 12.
The basic variant of iPhone 12 Pro can be pre-booked for Rs 10,110 per month on EMI or get it for Rs 85,900 with trade-in. The customers opting for trade-in can save up to Rs 34,000.
The two phones can now be pre-ordered, with deliveries for both starting October 30.
iPhone 12 price in India starts at Rs 79,900 for the 64GB model. Meanwhile, the price of the iPhone 12 with 128GB and 256GB internal memory is set at Rs 84,900 and Rs 94,900, respectively.
iPhone 12 Pro price in India starts at Rs 1,19,900 for the 128GB model. The 256GB and 512GB iPhone 12 Pro variants have been launched in India for Rs 1,29,900 and Rs 1,49,900, respectively.

iPhone 12 is available on the Apple website. However, from November 3, iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 pro will be available on Amazon. These phones will be available on Flipkart as well but the date has not been mentioned.
- Apple has indicated that its new MagSafe Charger will be limited to 12W peak power delivery when used with iPhone 12 mini, compared to up to 15W for other iPhone 12 models.
- MagSafe is a new feature on all iPhone 12 models that allows for magnetic accessories to be attached to the back of the devices, including Apple's MagSafe Charger for more precise wireless charging.
"The system intelligently adapts to conditions in order to optimise charging iPhone 12 at up to 15W of peak power delivery for faster wireless charging," the company said in a support document.
"The actual power delivered to the iPhone will vary depending on the wattage of the power adapter and system conditions. For iPhone 12 mini, the MagSafe Charger delivers up to 12W of peak power delivery," it added.
The power delivered to any iPhone 12 via MagSafe Charger will depend on various factors like temperature and other activity.
In addition, when Lightning accessories such as EarPods are connected to any iPhone 12 model, the MagSafe Charger is limited to 7.5W charging to comply with regulatory standards.
Apple said that one should connect the MagSafe charger with the power source and then put the iPhone 12 on it.
This lets the charger verify that it is safe to deliver maximum power
