Living spaces could get boring, dull, and feel unenergetic if there is nothing green around. And by green, we mean some trees and plants, which may or may not bear fruits or flowers, but that green element soothes the eyes. While some people are great at maintaining their green spaces at home, some end up having to deal with dried-off yellow leaves. Therefore, here are some basic gardening tips that you need to know!

  1. The Soil

    Analyzing the soil

You would not like your hands getting dirty, but digging your hands in the right soil is very important to ensure the growth of a healthy plant. Analyze the type of soil you have in your garden or in the pot and choose the plants accordingly. Moreover, you need to add fertilizers or compost for increasing the nutrients of the soil. Try to opt for something organic.
  2. Give Them Space

    Give plants their individual space

If you are planting multiple plants in the garden bed, ensure that you plant them at a proper distance from each other, because plants need space to grow. If placed close to each other, some may die and some may need more water and fertilizers to survive. If you are using pots, choose the right size of the pot and give the plants their individual space. For this, you need to understand how big the plant may grow and can it even grow in a pot at all?
  3. Water Properly

    Water the plants

One needs to be very careful while watering the plants. Plants soak water from the soil as well, therefore, they may not need to be irrigated on a daily basis. Thus, make sure you do not over-water the plants because this can lead to an immature root system and plants may become dependent on getting water. However, potted plants may need frequent irrigation as compared to plants in the garden bed, due to the finite soil they are planted in. just remember to keep the soil moist, not soaking.
  4. Sun Exposure

    Sunlight exposure

Sun exposure is important for plants. Although some plants can survive without sun exposure for quite a long, most plants need a good 6-8 hours of sunlight. When you choose a plant for your garden space, make sure a corner in your house gets enough sunlight for the plants. If not, choose plants that are shade-friendly/good for indoors.
  5. Be Patient

    Be patient with the plant

When you are stepping into gardening, you have to be patient. Learn more about the plants you are growing, how long do they take to completely mature, in what season they should be planted, and other related details. Remember that over-watering or over-sunlight exposure won’t make your plant grow faster.
