Agra: Three more persons were arrested on Friday by Uttar Pradesh Police in the case of the hijacking of a bus with 34 passengers on board in Agra.
The accused have been identified as Sanjay, Shravan and Yatendra Yadav. The accused persons were nabbed from Chitrahat area. The police have also recovered the two cars used in the crime.
According to Agra rural SP, Ravi Kumar, the alleged mastermind of the case Pradeep Gupta was arrested on Thursday following an encounter in Firozabad district.
"A private bus carrying 34 passengers left from Gurugram for Jhansi at 3 am on Wednesday. Some men in SUVs overtook the bus and stopped it after it crossed Raigad toll near New Southern Bypass in Agra. The driver, conductor and helper were asked to get down from the bus and passengers were asked to get into another bus. The hijacked bus was later traced near a Dhaba in Etawah district," Kumar said.
"The bus was recovered from Etawah on Wednesday afternoon, after more than 12 hours of going amiss, with officials saying all 34 passengers on board the bus were safe and on their way to their destinations in other vehicles. Money dispute was the reason for the hijacking of the bus which was owned by Pawan Arora from Gwalior," he said.
" We have started the interrogation of the trio. Soon we will arrest other accused involved in the case," he added.
Reportedly, the police intercepted accused Pradeep Gupta in Fatehabad area of Agra district. In the encounter that followed, Gupta suffered a bullet injury in his leg. Police have admitted Pradeep Gupta to a hospital for treatment. Police also launched a manhunt to nab other accused in the case. Further investigation is underway.
