Kurnool (Andhra Pradesh): A video posted by an auto-rickshaw driver and his family members, who allegedly committed suicide by jumping before a moving train in Andhra Pradesh's Kurnool district on Tuesday has gone viral.
In that video, the auto-rickshaw driver, identified as Shaik Abdul Salam (42) and his family members hailing from Nandyal, have accused the police of allegedly harassing them over a theft case.
In the video, Salam said, "I did not do any mistake sir, I'm not concerned with the theft. I did not steal the money left in the auto-rickshaw and I'm unable to bear the torture. No one is there to help me. Hope my death will give a conclusion to it."
Salam was recently named as an accused in a theft case of Rs 70,000 from a passenger of his auto rickshaw.
Meanwhile, locals of Nandyal have taken up the agitation demanding an inquiry about the incident. They claimed that the Salam family committed suicide because of police harassment. They claimed that police have often harassed Salam to come to the station over the incident.
