Ghaziabad: Haryana cadre IAS officer Rani Nagar and her sister were allegedly attacked by a miscreant at her residence in Pachwati colony in Ghaziabad, police said on Sunday.
The miscreant has been arrested by police and he has been identified as Vinayak Mishra, a neighbour of Nagar.
According to the complainant, the incident took place at around 9 pm on Saturday night when Rani and her sister were walking outside the house.
At the same time, a person came out from her neighbour's house and attacked the duo with the iron rod. While Rani survived this attack, her sister Reema Nagar suffered serious injuries, the complainant said.
Rani said that she had escaped the attack by the accused miscreant, but her sister could not escape and rod hit her leg, leaving her critically injured.
On being informed about the incident, Ghaziabad police reached the spot today and investigated into the matter. Based on the facts and CCTV footage, police have arrested Mishra. Police have also registered a case against him.
Reportedly, IAS Rani Nagar of Haryana cadre of Indian Administrative Service 2014 batch had returned to her home Ghaziabad earlier this month, resigned from her post, threatening her life.
