Bemetra (Chhattisgarh): In a shocking incident, an eight-year-old girl was brutally raped and dumped on the National Highway in Chhatisgarh's Bemetra district on Wednesday.
The girl, who sustained critical injuries, was rushed to Bemetra District Headquarters Hospital for treatment by locals. Locals raised an alarm in the morning and informed the police.
On being informed about the incident, Divyang Patel, SP of Bemetra rushed to the spot and began an investigation into the incident.
Police are tight-lipped over allegations that the minor was gang-raped. Patel said it cannot be ascertained whether the minor was gang-raped. "We are awaiting the medical report to arrive at the conclusion," he said.
The Chhattisgarh Home Minister, Tamradhwaj Sahu has also discussed the matter with the Bemetara Superintendent of Police over the phone and instructed to nab the accused as soon as possible.
"Some unidentified miscreants allegedly raped the minor girl and dumped her on the National Highway 30, 8 km away from the Bemetara DHH. The victim said that she has been abducted by some unknown miscreants. A case has been registered under sections 363, 323 and 376(D)(A) of IPC and the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act. An investigation is underway to nab the accused persons," said, SP, Divyang Patel.
