Ionian Sea: The USS Abraham Lincoln, an aircraft carrier group, deployed by the US to the Middle East took part in recent naval exercises.
The aircraft carrier group and bombers were deployed to US Central Command region, an area that includes the Middle East amid increased tensions with Iran.
Iran threatened to enrich its uranium stockpile closer to weapons-grade levels in 60 days if world powers fail to negotiate new terms for the 2015 nuclear deal.
It follows the Trump administration's "maximum pressure" campaign of diplomatic and economic measures that have exacted a punishing toll on Iran.
