Ljubljana: A large wooden statue of the US President Donald Trump has been erected in Slovenia, the homeland of his wife Melania. The nearly eight-meter high (26 feet) construction shows Trump in his trademark hairstyle, blue suit, white shirt and a long red tie.
His right arm with a clinched fist is raised up high like that of the Statue of Liberty in New York.
When triggered, a mechanism opens a red-painted mouth and shark-like teeth appear.
The monument is built on a private lush green and hilly property in the sleepy village of Sela pri Kamniku, some 30 kilometres (20 miles) northeast of the Slovenian capital, Ljubljana.
It has a temporary permit and has to be removed by Halloween before October 31.
Some local villagers, unhappy with its appearance, suggest torching it on the day.
A member of local culture and sports organisation, Natasa Pivec said, "We are members of sports and cultural organisation here. It is a local organisation and we prepare many events for the people here and we always want them to attend our events, so we wanted to get their attention because we have feeling that we don't get enough."
Two American tourists came on Friday to this remote corner of Slovenia when they heard the news about the statue.
It's not the first time in Slovenia that the Trump family has been carved in wood.
A life-size sculpture of the US first lady was unveiled in her hometown of Sevnica in June, drawing mixed reactions from the locals.
The rustic figure was cut from the trunk of a linden tree, showing her in a pale blue dress like the one she wore at Donald Trump's presidential inauguration.
Her face is depicted in a naive local style.
The first lady, born Melanija Knavs, changed her name to Melania Knauss when she started modelling.
She settled in New York in 1996 and met Trump two years later.
