Maçao: A major fire in central Portugal on Sunday has injured 20 people including eight firefighters. The cause of the fire is still not known.
Over 1,800 firefighters along with 19 firefighting aircraft and hundreds of vehicles were struggling to control the wildfire.
The authorities are still investigating the cause of the blaze.
One person was immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment. According to the health authorities, smoke inhalation was the cause of most of the injuries.
Residents living near the area were asked to evacuate their homes. At least one road was closed and the military made use of the tracked vehicles to clear the road for the firefighters' crew.
The Portuguese military has also arranged for a mobile kitchen to provide proper food for the people who were affected due to the fire.
