Hyderabad: Britain's governing Conservative Party on Tuesday has chosen Brexit hardliner Boris Johnson over Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Jeremy Hunt as the new Prime Minister of the UK.
Johnson will become the country's next Prime Minister to take up the task of fulfilling his promise to lead the UK out of the European Union.
In his speech, he has vowed that Britain will depart from the European Union on the scheduled date on October 31.
The former mayor has won the race by a convincing margin of 92,153 votes to 46,656.
He will be installed as Prime Minister on Wednesday after a formal handover from Theresa May.
Johnson will visit the Buckingham Palace to receive the confirmation of his appointment before heading towards Downing Street.
But he will face some internal revolt before arriving in Downing Street. Some cabinet ministers including the chancellor Philip Hammond has confirmed that instead of serving Boris they will resign.
Further, he will take a rocky ride from a Parliament determined to prevent him from taking the UK out of the bloc without a withdrawal agreement.
