Berlin: Two Eurofighter jets of the German Airforce collided mid-air on Monday over Germany's northern state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. A German air force pilot was killed during this incident in northeastern Germany, the military said.
The collision took place around 2:00 am (local time) over the Mueritz region, about 100 kilometres north of country's capital Berlin.
The pilots of both the jets, however, managed to eject, reported media.
One pilot has been found alive while the search for the other is still underway, the German Ministry of Defence said. The surviving pilot being rescued by the emergency services after his parachute became entangled in a tree in Malchow, in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania state.
A forest fire has been reported at the crash site.
