Mahia Peninsula: Rocket Lab's electron booster successfully launched three satellites from New Zealand's Mahia Peninsula on Sunday. The satellites were deployed into the orbit for the US Air Force.
Among the three satellites, is Cubesats and the Falcon ODE (Falcon Orbital Debris Experiment), which will help researchers look over the effectiveness of ground-based systems for tracking space junk.
The other satellite is the Harbinger built by the York Space System. It is the main satellite built for the US Army Space and Missile Defense Command. It will demonstrate the radar imaging capability and high-bandwidth downlink capabilities.
As per reports, the launch is the first for the US Air Force's Rapid Agile Launch Initiative programme. The space mission is called STP-27RD which is the 2nd electron mission this year.
