Sydney: Penguin chicks at a Sydney aquarium have been treated to their first ever Christmas treat — a wintry playground of baubles and bubbles.
Last Friday, green and red baubles rolled across the penguins' icy enclosure as the two-month-old chicks chased and pecked the festive ornaments.
Sea Life Sydney Aquarium penguin supervisor Kerrie Dixon described it as a "winter wonderland" for both the chicks and the adult gentoos.
The colony of penguin chicks hatched at the aquarium during November.
"They're losing their baby feathers," said Dixon. "All of the adult feathers are coming through and they're really close to swimming lesson time."
One of the chicks in the colony is the second chick of well-known male-male penguin couple Sphen and Magic.
