Hyderabad: With the mounting tension between India and Pakistan, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held an emergency meeting Tuesday and called for an immediate de-escalation of the situation.
The meeting which was chaired by assistant secretary general Amb Hameed A. Opeloyeru targeted India and held discussion on Kashmir issue.
The meeting also emphasised on that conflict between the two nations shall be resolved in accordance with the United Nations resolutions.
The Contact Group called on the OIC and the UN Secretaries General to use their good offices to put an end to the dangerous escalation of the situation, which threatens regional peace and security.

The meeting was attended by foreign secretary of Pakistan Tehmina Janjua, and the permanent representatives of Azerbaijan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Niger as well as the president of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Masood Khan.
