Hong Kong: Chief Executive Carrie Lam on Tuesday warned the United States to stay away from the matters targeting her territory.
Lam's speech came after the Hong Kongers on Sunday marched to the US consulate urging them to pass the Hong Kong Human Rights and Declaration Act.
Lam has barred the people from asking any kind of actions from the US and also assured the people that her administration would soon go into local neighbourhoods to establish a direct dialogue.
Recently protesters have reached out to the international community to garner support for their movement due to the lack of trust on the Hong Kong local government and also Chinese Communist Party government in Beijing who did not respond to their concerns.
And Lam faced a question about one of her top advisors, Fanny Law, spreading rumours about protesters having sex.
After the formal withdrawal of the Extradition Bill which will send the criminal suspects to mainland China for trial Lam failed to win the trust of the people of Hong Kong. The formal withdrawal of the bill sparked another protest in the city demanding direct elections of city leaders and an independent inquiry into the police actions.
Hong Kong became a tough fight for Beijing since it was handed over to China in 1997 and also an embarrassment to its ruling Communist Party ahead of October 1 celebrations of its 70th year in power.
Beijing has slammed the protests as an effort by criminals to split the territory from China, backed by what it said were hostile foreigners.
