Lahore: India's most wanted Hafiz Saeed on Monday got pre-arrest bail in a case of illegal use of land for its seminary in Lahore.
Media reported that an anti-terrorism court granted interim bail to Saeed, Hafiz Masood, Ameer Hamza and Malik Zafar until August 31 against surety bonds of 50,000 Pakistani rupees each.
Meanwhile, the Lahore High Court issued notices to the federal government, the Punjab government and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) regarding a petition filed by Saeed and his seven aides, challenging a case carrying a charge of terror financing lodged by the CTD.
Earlier the CTD had registered cases against Saeed in terror financing and facilitation.
In response, Saeed and others on Friday filed the plea in the high court challenging the cases.
In a statement on July 4, external affairs ministry's spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said, "Pakistan's sincerity to take action against terrorists and terror groups will be judged on the basis of their ability to demonstrate verifiable, credible and irreversible action against terror groups operating from their soil and not on the basis of half-hearted measures which they undertake sometimes to hoodwink the international community."
