The US is the worst-hit nation with cases more than 1,78,88,353 and fatalities over 3,20,845.
Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi has been vaccinated against the novel coronavirus by attending physician Brian Monahan at the Capitol. Shortly, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell also announced that he had also been vaccinated by Monahan.
United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) could potentially transport up to 850 tonnes of Covid-19 vaccines per month in 2021, should such quantities become available, according to a new assessment published on Friday.
The assessment is part of UNICEF's work to lead on the procurement and delivery of Covid-19 vaccines for 92 low- and lower-middle-income countries on behalf of the COVAX Facility, an international initiative aimed at ensuring equitable global access to Covid-19 vaccines, in collaboration with the Pan American Health Organisation, a UNICEF press release said.
Spanish Health Minister Salvador Illa said on Friday that vaccinations against COVID-19 will begin in Spain on December 27. The first vaccinations will be using the BioNTech Pfizer vaccine, with the first doses arriving in Spain on December 26.
