Hyderabad: The coronavirus pandemic has infected more than 7,77,18,158 and killed over 17,09,011 people across the world. More than 5,45,93,404 people have recovered so far.

The US is the worst-hit nation with cases more than 18,473,716 and fatalities over 3,26,772.

US President-elect Joe Biden on Monday received his first dose of the coronavirus vaccine on live television as part of a growing effort to convince the American public the inoculations are safe.

Singapore received its first shipment of Pfizer's coronavirus vaccine on Monday.

It is the first country in Asia to take stock of these vaccines.

The shipment arrived in the city state via a Singapore Airlines cargo flight SQ7979 from Brussels on Monday evening.

Singapore approved the use of Pfizer's coronavirus vaccine on December 14.

Germany has expanded its ban on passenger flights from the U.K. to forbid passenger transport by rail, bus and ship.

Health Minister Jens Spahn said the expanded measure took effect at midnight, a day after flights were halted. A similar measure applies to South Africa, where a new variant of the coronavirus also has been detected.
