Hyderabad: The coronavirus pandemic has infected more than 5,59,43,622 and killed over 13,43,388 people across the world. More than 3,89,63,786 people have recovered so far.

The US is the worst-hit nation with cases more than 1,16,95,711 and fatalities over 2,54,255.

Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley, the longest-serving Republican senator and third in the line of presidential succession, said he has tested positive for the coronavirus. Grassley, 87, had announced earlier Tuesday that he was quarantined after being exposed to the virus and was waiting for test results. On Tuesday evening, he tweeted that he had tested positive.

Meanwhile, the world received welcome news in the past week with positive preliminary results on two COVID-19 vaccines from Pfizer and Moderna, but scientists are worried that volunteers will stop coming forward take part in studies of other vaccines under development. Thousands are still needed.
