Hyderabad: The coronavirus pandemic has infected more than 4,37,76,587 and killed over 11,64,515 people across the world. More than 3,21,79,748 people have recovered so far.
The US is the worst-hit nation with cases more than 89,62,783 and fatalities over 2,31,045.
Hospitalizations are also increasing, and deaths, which lag furthest behind those other indicators, are beginning to spike. The country is testing more people than ever.
However, more testing cannot account for the rise in cases, health officials have said, because the percentage of tests coming back positive has increased as well.
India is in second position with cases more than 79,45,888.
French health experts have warned that may be a requirement of a second lockdown in the country in the wake of an ongoing second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, that has led to a dramatic spike in the number of new confirmed cases.
The government has pledged to avoid an expensive lockdown, which curbed the first wave of the outbreak at the cost of an unprecedented economic recession.
