Father of two of the suicide bombers, a wealthy spice trader, has been arrested in the aftermath of the Easter Sunday attacks, said Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe. The coordinated suicide bombings in Sri Lanka's capital targeted three churches and three hotels including the Cinnamon Grand, killing at least 359 people and wounding 500 more.

Colombo: Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said on Thursday that the father of two of the suicide bombers, a wealthy spice trader, has been arrested in the aftermath of the Easter Sunday attacks.

The coordinated suicide bombings in Sri Lanka's capital targeted three churches and three hotels including the Cinnamon Grand, killing at least 359 people and wounding 500 more.

While authorities have blamed a local group National Towheed Jammat for the attack, the Islamic State on Tuesday claimed responsibility for the attack.

Sri Lanka President Maithripala Sirisena on Wednesday axed defence secretary Hemasiri Fernando and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Pujith Jayasundara over mis-handling of intelligence report of possible attacks.
