Earthquake hits Bali, no damages reported

The 6-magnitude earthquake hit Bali, Nua Dua and some parts of Java causing minor damages in the region.

Jakarta: The island of Bali was shaken up by a 6-magnitude earthquake on Tuesday but no tsunami alert was issued.

According to the disaster management official, the quake hit the mainland at around 7:18 am (local time), 83 km southwest of Nusa Dua, Bali, at a depth of 91.6 km.

However, the seismic waves triggered panic, damaged homes and buildings but no casualties were reported.

Along with Bali, the quake has caused minor damages in Nusa Dua and some parts of East Java.

Indonesia is frequently hit by earthquakes as it sits on a vulnerable quake-hit zone called 'the Pacific Ring of Fire'.
