Dog rescues newborn after mother buries him alive in Thailand

A dog in Thailand has rescued a newborn after the baby was buried alive by his mother in a field. In a bid to conceal pregnancy from her parents, mother, 15, of the baby boy buried him in a field in Ban Nong Kham village.

Ping Pong, the dog who was the mute spectator of the whole incident, started scratching the field and barking thus brought the incident to the notice of his master.

Locals rushed the infant to the near by hospital where doctors gave him preliminary treatment and declared him healthy.

"Ping Pong lost his one leg after being hit by a car. Still he helps me in the fields and tend to my cattle. He is loved by the entire village," BBC reported quoting Usa Nisaikha, owner of the dog.

The mother of the newborn was detained on charges of murder and child abandonment.

The girl's family has decided to raise the child.
