Beijing: The death toll from a coronavirus outbreak in China has soared to 106 while nearly 1,300 new cases have been confirmed, authorities said on Tuesday.

China's government extended the Lunar New Year holiday to keep the public at home and avoid spreading infection.

Other countries planned evacuations of their citizens in Wuhan. France, Japan and the US were among nations poised to get their own residents out. Others, including Sri Lanka and Thailand, were making arrangements.
