Kabul: At least nine people sustained injuries in a huge explosion in Shahr-e-Naw area here on Wednesday afternoon.
According to police officials, the explosion was followed by a gun battle between militants and security forces.
A large plume of smoke rose from the area and the sound of sporadic gunfire could be heard.
Though no one immediately claimed the responsibility for the blast, but the involvement of Taliban and an Islamic State cannot be ruled out.

The two terror groups frequently carry out attacks in the capital and many places across the country targeting the US-backed government and its security forces.
