Yangon: At least 13 people were killed on Sunday after a massive landslide hit a jade mine in Hpakant township.
The incident occurred as the cliff wall at a suspended jade mine near Kayin Chaung village in Hpakant collapsed, killing company staff and security personnel at 2 pm, local time.
The official from the township's general administration department said that 13 bodies have been recovered and five were still missing.
Rescuers were able to rescue two security personnel, who were later hospitalised.
Local authorities are searching for missing people.
