Watch: US B-52 bomber takes off from Qatar airbase

US B-52 bombers ordered by the White House to deploy to the Persian Gulf to counter unspecified threats from Iran took off from a major American air base in Qatar. The B-52 Stratofortress bomber took off from the Al Udeid Air Base.

Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar: Amid escalating tension between the US and Iran, the US Air Force has released video showing a B-52 bomber taking off from a major airbase in Qatar.

The B-52 Stratofortress bomber ordered by the White House to deploy to the Persian Gulf to counter unspecified threats from Iran took off from the Al Udeid Air Base.

The US Air Force said the aircraft was part of the 20th Expeditionary Bomb Squadron used to defend American forces and interests in the region.

On May 5 , the White House announced it would send the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier strike group and the bombers to counter Tehran.

Later, Pentagon said it would deploy Patriot missile defence system and a Navy warship to the Middle East.

Meanwhile Iran announced it would begin backing away from its nuclear deal with world powers, a year after President Donald Trump pulled America from the accord.
