Washington: In one of the latest snapping of ties with international bodies President Donald Trump during a press briefing last week announced that the United States has put an end to its relationship with the World Health Organisation (WHO) on the grounds that it has neglected its duties during the coronavirus crisis. He also alleged that China has total control over the global organization.
Trump said that the US contributes about USD 450 million to the world body while China provides about USD 40 million. Being the largest source of financial support to the WHO, Trump's decision will significantly weaken the organization. However, this is the first of its kind wherein the US has distanced itself from international organisations.
