Osaka: US President Donald Trump was seen cracking a joke to Russian President Vladimir Putin during their meeting on the sidelines of Group of 20 Summit here on Friday.

Trump was heard saying Putin not to meddle in the US election scheduled in 2020.

The US President also said he and his counterpart are yet to discuss the situation with Ukrainian sailors.

Speaking to media Putin said, "I and Trump have things to discuss. Our teams have been working together since their last meeting in July 2018."

Both leaders are meeting for the first time since a federal investigation in the United States documented extensive evidence of Russian meddling in the 2016 US presidential election.

Also, it's their first time face-to-face since the Helsinki summit last July in which Trump refused to side with US intelligence agencies over his Russian counterpart. Putin has denied meddling in the election.
