Washington DC: In the first-ever in-person bilateral talks, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Joe Biden on Friday vowed to strengthen ties between the two countries.
"Today's bilateral summit is important. We are meeting at the start of the third decade of this century," Modi told Biden.
"The seeds have been sown for even stronger friendship between India and USA," he added.
The two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to enhance trade relations. "There is much to be done in trade. Trade will be an important factor in Indo-US ties in the coming decade," Modi said.
"We are watching a new chapter in India-US ties," Biden said.
Modi hailed Biden's leadership and said it will play an important role in "how this decade is shaped." On the other hand, Biden went on to assure the nations together will be able to solve a lot of challenges.
"Four million Indian-Americans make US stronger every day...Relationship between India and US, largest democracies in the world, is destined to be stronger, closer and tighter" Biden told Modi.
