Brief survey of 2020 'swing states' in US

In the 2020 presidential election, Republican President Donald Trump is challenged by the Democratic nominee Joe Biden. Biden's current position is painting the most important part of 2016 US election, which Trump won against all odds beating Hillary Clinton who nearly had three million more votes than Trump.

Washington: The outcome of the 59th US presidential election will seal the fate of America for the next four years.

In the 2020 presidential election, Republican President Donald Trump's main opponent is Democratic nominee Joe Biden. Although both believe that they have the head of the steam, records show Biden is leading the polls against Trump.

Arizona:

One of the battleground states is Arizona which is drawing a lot of attention due to its wild card prospect in the 2020 US presidential election. Arizona was a stronghold of GOP (Republican Party) but this year it will show some change in its opinion.

Florida:

According to the survey, the Democratic candidate is likely to beat President Donald Trump in Florida. It was a close state in 2016 election where Trump's victory margin was wider than that of the other states while in 2020 Florida would seem like a good investment for Biden.

Georgia

Georgia:

This year Georgia will also be included in the list of the battleground states. Although the voters never elected a Democrat since 1992 this year the campaigners have turned it into a state to watch. The state has recently come into the spotlight because of the coronavirus cases, police reforms and voting rights.

Iowa:

Iowa had always sided with the Democratic party but in 2016 it changed its stance when Donald Trump won the state with 9.5 per cent vote which is 15 points higher than what Barack Obama received in this state in 2012. The importance of Iowa depends on its caucuses, which kick off the nominating process.

Michigan:

The state voted for the Republicans until the 'Great Depression'. In 2016 it was the closest state with popular vote percentage. During 2016 presidential election Donald Trump defeated Hillary Clinton by just 0.2 per cent votes.

Minnesota

Minnesota:

History of Minnesota shows that it has never supported a Republican candidate since 1972 but Trump won the state four years ago within 45,000 votes. Minnesota holds a potential opportunity for which both the parties are investing heavily in it. As the democrats insist on keeping the state in their list but Trump's allies are of the view that there might be an opening for his message after the riots caused in the wake of the killing of African American George Floyd in police custody in Minneapolis.

Nevada:

Nevada state is favouring Trump's opponent Joe Biden showcasing the 2016 election history during which Trump was trailing behind the Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton in Nevada. However, Trump's rallies in Nevada has attracted a lot of criticism as thousands of people were spotted without masks and were seen defying social distancing rules.

New Hampshire:

It is an important among the battleground states, which is considered as a big prize for the presidential contenders as the voters of this state do take their role very seriously and also hear out every candidate who comes to the state for their votes. In short, this state is gettable to people with cash or even for those without huge recognition.

North Carolina:

Political veterans are expecting a close race in North Carolina. In 2016 Trump won the state with 3.7 per cent vote. This time the candidates on the ballot are trying to adjust and some Democrats are worried about the implication of voting amid coronavirus.

Ohio:

Recently Ohio has been considered a major battleground state on the basis of the closeness of the vote and wealth of electoral votes which is currently 18. In 2016 Ohio gave the victorious position to Donald Trump over Hillary Clinton as he took the lead by 8 points.

Pennsylvania:

In Pennsylvania, African-American residents offered their predictions on the presidential race in interviews this week, with several saying that Mr Biden had made more significant inroads with the African-American community and might have better success than Hillary Clinton did here in 2016.

Wisconsin:

Wisconsin’s largest county by area, voters traditionally lean Republican. Although Barack Obama won Marathon County in 2008, he lost it in 2012 and Mr Trump enjoyed a sweeping win in 2016.
