Hyderabad: A Boeing 737 aircraft with 136 passengers on board went off the runway into St. John's river near Jacksonville in Florida after landing at Naval Air Station Jacksonville on Friday.

The ill-fated flight coming from Naval Station Guantanamo Bay in Cuba slid into the river at the end of the runway at around 9.40 pm on Friday (local time), Reuters reported. 

No fatalities due to the mishap reported so far.

In a series of tweets, Lenny Curry, mayor of Jacksonville,Florida said, "We have a commercial plane down on the river.  I’ve been briefed by our Fire and Rescue. They are on the scene.  While they work please pray."

"All alive and accounted for.  Our Fire and Rescue teams are family to all. Teams working to control jet fuel in the water," he tweeted.

"#JSO Marine Unit was called to assist @NASJax_ in reference to a commercial airplane in shallow water.  The plane was not submerged.  Every person is alive and accounted for,"  Jacksonville, Florida Sheriff’s office tweeted.
