Sao Paulo: Eight armed men carried out a heist at Sao Paulo's main international airport and fled with 750 kilos of gold, airport authorities said on Thursday.
Guarulhos airport operator said that the thieves were all dressed as officers and carried long weapons took the gold which was destined for Zurich and New York. They used two cars that looked similar to police patrol vehicles.
Later the vehicles were abandoned in Jardim Pantanal located 20 km away from the airport.
According to the airport authorities, there were no casualties during the theft and flights continued to operate normally.
