North Carolina: After causing havoc on the Bahamas the weakened Hurricane Dorian targetted North Carolina's coast with a ferocity as a result homes were flooded and hundreds were trapped by high water.
According to the officials, Dorian caused flooding in parts of the state and spawned several tornadoes. The effect of the hurricane was also felt in South Carolina and Virginia, around 3,43,000 people suffered power outages in the three states.
Although the speed of the wind has dropped down to 90 mph(145kph) still it led to forced evacuation in North Carolina Island and also lashed communities on the Outer Banks with rain and surging seawater.
The stormy weather condition is spreading towards the southeastern region of the US, which could potentially cause "life-threatening" flash floods, the Center also said.
At least five people have died in Hurricane-related deaths in the US three in Florida and two other in North Carolina.
Rising waters coursed into the main floors of elevated homes and smacked them with floating debris.
