Mexico City: As many as 23 Catholic pilgrims were killed after a bus in which they were travelling caught fire after a hitting a cargo truck on Wednesday.
According to sources, the mishap took place in the state of Veracruz when the pilgrims returning home to the Archdiocese of Tuxtla in Chiapas after visiting Mexico City's Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
Among the injured is the parish priest, who organised the pilgrimage. He is reported to be in a serious condition at a hospital in the area.
