Libyan National Army sends reinforcements to western part

Libya is split between two warring governments, the UN-recognized Government of National Accord forces led by Prime Minister Fayez Sarraj and Khalifa Hifter's self-styled Libyan National Army. The latest movements of LNA are part of the second wave of attacks in combat operations.

Libyan National Army sends reinforcements to western part

West Libya- In a major attempt to take control of the capital Tripoli from the UN-backed Government of National Accord (GNA) forces, the self-styled Libyan National Army (LNA) dispatched more military battalions and reinforcements to western Libya.

Operations spokesperson for LNA, General Khaled el-Mahjoub said the reason reinforcements were sent as part of the "Flood of Dignity" operation "was to prepare for the entry of the capital."

LNA claims the GNA forces as "extremist and terrorist militias."

The spokesperson added that the LNA managed to repel an attack by the GNA forces and destroyed two vehicles carrying anti-aircraft guns along with several other armed vehicles.

According to the UN health agency, the death toll from fighting around Tripoli had reached nearly 1000, since Hifter launched his offensive on April 4.
