Conakry: Guinea on Wednesday began vaccinating against COVID-19 with a Russian produced vaccine on an experimental basis.
Government officials were the first to receive the Sputnik V vaccine at a vaccination centre in Conakry.
Dr Sakoba Keita, who is the Director-General of the country's National Health Security Agency, was among those who were given the injection.
Keita said that the West African nation has also "placed orders" for a coronavirus vaccine which was produced in China.
