Hyderabad: The release date for the much-anticipated Prabhas starrer, Kalki 2898 AD, is now confirmed. The superstar took to social media on Friday to announce that the sci-fi drama will hit theaters on May 9, 2024. The upcoming film is has National Award-winning director Nag Ashwin at the helm.
Prabhas shared a captivating poster revealing the release date, stating, "The countdown to the future has begun! #Kalki2898AD in theatres worldwide on 9th May 2024," on his Instagram. Originally scheduled for January 12, 2024, the film was rescheduled to May 9.
Amidst the excitement, Kalki 2898 AD has generated positive buzz with the release of character posters and a sneak peek at San Diego's Comic-Con in 2023. Reportedly, it holds the title of the most expensive Indian film in 2024, boasting a staggering budget of Rs 600 crore.
Prabhas aside, the star-studded cast of Kalki 2898 AD includes Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone, Dulquer Salmaan, Rana Daggubati, Pasupathy, Sasweta Chatterjee, and Disha Patani. This multi-lingual release spans Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, and English. Kalki 2898 AD weaves a unique tale, blending mythology and futuristic sci-fi elements.
With no major releases scheduled around May 9, Kalki faces competition from the Rajkumar Rao, Alaya F, and Jotika starrer Sri, a biopic centered on industrialist Srikanth Bolla, who overcame visual impairment to establish Bollant Industries.
