Hyderabad: In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's appeal, actor Nagarjuna has cancelled his tickets for Maldives, a popular tourist destination and has instead chosen the Lakshadweep. Recently, there was a row between India and Maldives after a few Maldivian ministers hit out at PM Modi, who promoted Lakshadweep islands following his visit. The decision by Nagarjuna also comes after the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) appealed to cancel shoots scheduled for in Maldives.

In an episode on YouTube by Telugu Film Producers Council, Nagarjuna told lyricists Chandrabose and MM Keeravaani, "I was working for Big Boss and Naa Saami Ranga for 75 days without a break. I have cancelled my tickets and plan to travel to Lakshadweep next week. I did not cancel it out of fear or anything. I cancelled the tickets since it was unhealthy."

He went on to say, "Whatever they said or the statements they made were not healthy at all, and it is not right, and he is our Prime Minister. He leads 1.5 billion people and the treatment they receive is unacceptable. They will face the consequences. Every action has a corresponding reaction."

Nagarjuna also spoke of the grandeur of the Bangaram Islands in Lakshadweep, where he appears to be heading shortly. He also proposed that MM Keeravani visit Lakshadweep soon. For the unversed, the Maldives boycott began after Maldivians insulted Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's proposal to visit Indian islands. PM Modi had visited the Lakshadweep Islands and shared photos of himself relaxing on the beach and even snorkelling.
