Virat Kohli's incredible World Cup journey persisted with another outstanding performance on his 35th birthday at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata. During the match against South Africa, he notched up his second century of the tournament, marking a total of 49 ODI centuries to his name. This extraordinary feat placed him on par with the cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar in terms of ODI centuries.
As Virat reached this long-awaited career milestone, fans across the nation erupted in celebration. His wife, the renowned actor Anushka Sharma, took to Instagram to applaud the star batter, captioning a photo of Kohli from the match with, "Apne birthday pe khud ko present" (A birthday gift to oneself).
In the image, Kohli can be seen raising his bat, acknowledging the heavens after achieving a scintillating century. Kohli's sister, Bhawna, also expressed her love for him with a heartfelt social media post. Bhawna's Instagram post read, "When you are born to be the greatest and the best, what can I say? This one is incredible, Virat! Your birthday became all the more special with this century. Carry on, God Bless You. Happiest Birthday!"
Notably, Kohli had already scored a century in this Cricket World Cup, with his unbeaten 103 off 97 balls against Bangladesh in Pune, securing a seven-wicket victory and earning him the Player of the Match award. He came close to another century in Dharamsala against New Zealand, falling just five runs short. In Mumbai, he played a brilliant knock of 88 against Sri Lanka but fell short of the century mark. However, it didn't take long for him to reach this milestone, which he accomplished on his 35th birthday at Eden Gardens.
