Hyderabad: National Award-winning director Aditya Dhar's ambitious film The Immortal Ashwatthama is facing roadblocks before it takes off. The film was announced in 2019 with Vicky Kaushal in the lead but things did not fall in place and makers had to put the project on the back burner due to the pandemic. When the talks of the film's revival resurfaced, the main lead was replaced by Ranveer Singh who too is seemingly now seemingly out of the league as makers need an even bigger star to headline the film.

After Vicky and Ranveer, The Immortal Ashwatthama makers have reportedly approached Pushpa star Allu Arjun to play the titular role. According to a webloid report, Jio Studios and Aditya are in talks with Allu Arjun for the film which is based on the mythological character Ashwatthama from Mahabharat.

The makers are keen on having Allu Arjun onboard but the actor is yet to give it a nod as he has multiple projects at various levels of production. The actor is currently busy with his much-awaited film Pushpa: The Rule. He has also signed a film with Trivikram Srinivas and a pan-India film with Arjun Reddy director Sandeep Reddy Vanga. The talks are in the initial stage and only time will tell if Allu Arjun greenlights Aditya Dhar's The Immortal Ashwatthama which is said to be a two-part film.

As reported earlier, the film was announced under producer Ronnie Screwvala's banner RSVP. After Ronnie backed out of the project, Jio Studios stepped in to bankroll the film but with the condition of replacing Vicky with a bigger star. Aditya, who shares a close bond with Vicky had to apparently give in and look for other options to see his dream project come to life.
