Agartala: A local court on Sunday awarded two days police remand to Trinamool Congress leader Panna Deb after she was arrested on Saturday night on charges of abetting the suicide of her niece.
Panna Deb has allegedly provoked her niece to commit suicide. The East Agartala Women Police Station officers picked up her after the police found out her name in the suicide note of Rajasree Deb, a young girl who hanged herself on Saturday.
Once a dedicated Congress worker, Deb was a former councillor of Agartala Municipal Corporation.
The deceased Rajasree Deb was being taken care of by her paternal aunt Panna Deb, the prime accused in the case.
However, the parents of the deceased have said that their daughter was mentally unstable and they had no complaints against Panna Deb.
