Vending machine that delivers mask for just Rs 1

It is important to wear a mask, but sometimes in a hurry, we forget to carry one. If the police catch us, we have to pay a fine of Rs 1000 for not wearing a mask. However, if you are in Surat and forget to carry a mask with you, don’t worry, a vending machine will come in handy for you.

Surat (Gujarat): In these times of the pandemic, wearing a mask is a must, but sometimes in a hurry we forget to carry one. If the police catch us, we have to pay a fine of Rs 1000 for not wearing a mask. However, if you are in Surat and forget to carry a mask with you, don’t worry, a vending machine will come in handy for you.

Inspired by PM Modi’s mantra of Atma Nirbhar Bharat and Make in India, a special mask vending machine has been set up in Surat. This machine has been made by a woman social worker from Surat with the help of her young friend. The machine which has been set up in public places will deliver disposable masks on insertion of one or five rupee coins.

The mask has become a simple but effective tool to save ourselves from contracting Coronavirus infection. But many a time, it happens that we forget to wear the mask and go out. Now if the police catch us, we have to pay a hefty fine. To help such people buy a mask easily and at a very reasonable price, a special vending machine has been set up by Surat-based social worker Rupa Shah and her friend.

This type of vending machines have been placed to dispense sanitary pads for women. Now with the Covid-19 spreading again fast and people need to buy a mask, the idea has occurred to use such vending machine to dispense masks. The machines have the capacity to hold up to 5000 masks.

Talking to ETV Bharat Rupa Shah said that people are facing difficulty as the authorities have imposed strict rules to ensure wearing a mask, else pay heavy fines. For such people, this vending machine is very beneficial. The machine has the capacity to hold from 100 to 5000 masks. A mask can be obtained by inserting one rupee or five rupee coin. Initially, with the help of NGOs, the machine will be installed at railway stations, bus stations and at the Municipal Corporation headquarters. This machine works like an ATM, she adds.

Rishabh Shah, the vending machine manufacturer, said that he was inspired by the ideas of Atma Nirbhar Bharat and Make in India, hence created the machine. People will get disposable masks by inserting just a coin of rupee one or five. People will be able to get this mask without worrying about social distancing. The machine works the same way as an ATM does.
