MP's health care system on verge of collapse as 3,000 doctors resign en-masse

Rewa (Madhya Pradesh): Around 178 doctors posted in Shyam Shah Medical College have tendered their resignation en-masse, thereby causing a collapse of the health care system in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh. On the other hand, 400 doctors were terminated by the administration.

Alleging that the state government failed to adhere to their demands, a total of 2,500 junior doctors from various medical colleges in the state tendered resignations. They and have been on a strike for the past three days pressing for their six-point demands, including stipend. However, the Madhya Pradesh government is not willing to give in to these demands.

Hundreds of junior doctors gathered at Shyamshah Medical College on Thursday evening and paid their tributes to those doctors who lost their lives while treating patients during COVID-19.

The doctors said they want to work closely with the government, however, the latter is not ready to accept their demands. They appealed to Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for justice. Members of the Junior Doctors Association (JUDA) said that the Chief Minister should listen to the issues faced by junior doctors across the state and help them get back to work by taking appropriate decisions.
