Two young girls offer a libation in Chhattisgarh's vegetable market

With the death toll having risen due to Covid in Raipur, there has been an increase in the number of people offering libation. In Nawapara, the situation is such that platforms of the nearby vegetable market have been allocated for performing libation rituals, due to less space on the banks of the Mahanadi river.

Raipur (Chhattisgarh): A heart-rending sight of two girls offering libation on a platform designated for offering rituals in a vegetable market in Nawapara, turned people emotional.

Two sisters, aged 14 and 19, who are from Durg, were seen offering libation for their father who had passed away on April 9. As there was no male sibling, the responsibility to offer rituals and libation for their father's salvation fell upon both the sisters.

Corona infection has devastated many such families. Every day, people are seen arriving at the ghat to bid farewell to their loved ones. So far 1,632 people have died due to Coronavirus in Raipur.
