Bihar CM should discuss special status for state: RJD

Prof. Subodh Mehta, the National Spokesperson of the RJD says Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar should urge Prime Minister Modi to declare Bihar as a special state when he meets him in Delhi.

New Delhi: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's Delhi visit on Tuesday has hogged the headlines over speculations that he might meet Prime Minister Modi. Reacting to this, Prof. Subodh Mehta, the National Spokesperson of the RJD says that it is high time Nitish Kumar demanded special status for Bihar, central university status for Patna University and a special package for the agro-based industry.

He said that despite several demands made earlier regarding Bihar's special status, nothing worked out. Now, with the NDA government both at the Center and in the state, Nitish Kumar must demand for special status. The RJD spokesperson went onto say that every year Bihar gets flooded due to water being released from Nepal and hence the central government should make an agreement with the Nepal government to ensure that the problems related to flooding are solved.

Amid speculation over the Union Cabinet expansion, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is likely to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his private visit to New Delhi. Sources in the government confirmed that Kumar will fly to Delhi on Tuesday after 2 pm.
