Maharashtra: Businessman Raj Kundra and Ryan Thorpe have been sent to police custody till 27th July in connection with a case relating to the production of pornographic films. Police had produced Kundra and Ryan Thorpe, the IT Head of Kundra's company before a Magistrate Court and had sought seven days further police custody. Mumbai Police suspect that the money earned from pornography was used for online betting and hence told Court that the transactions between Raj Kundra's Yes bank account and United Bank of Africa account need to be investigated. Meanwhile, sources say that Raj Kundra and his company made more than 100 pornographic movies in the last one and a half years.
Kundra, the husband of actor Shilpa Shetty, was arrested by the city police's crime branch after being booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Information Technology Act. The police, while seeking maximum custody of Kundra, told a magistrate's court that the 45-year-old businessman had gained economically by making and selling pornographic material.

The Mumbai Crime Branch had apprehended the actor for creating pornographic content and for uploading them on a mobile application, in association with a UK based firm. According to Mumbai Police, ten other people have also been arrested, including Kundra who appears to be the key conspirator in the case. He was booked under IPC sections 420 (cheating), 34 (common intention), 292 and 293 (related to obscene and indecent advertisements and displays) besides relevant sections of the IT Act and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act.
