Doctors found uterus in male's body, operated successfully

Doctors at the government-run JJ Hospital in Mumbai performed a surgical operation and removed female reproductive organs including the uterus, fallopian tubes, cervix and partial vagina from the man's body when he came to seek treatment for his infertility.

Mumbai: In a rare case of disorder in sexual development, doctors removed female reproductive organs from the body of a man here in Maharashtra.

Doctors at the government-run JJ Hospital in Mumbai performed a surgical method and removed female reproductive organs including the uterus, fallopian tubes, cervix and partial vagina from the man's body when he came to seek treatment for his infertility.

The team headed by Dr Venkat Gite, who is the head of the Urology Department at the hospital said that it is an extremely rare case which doesn't come around usually and is commonly known as Mullerian Duct Syndrome. And, around 80-100 such cases have been reported yet from all over the world.

"Although the operation was successful in the end, a person needs to through various tests before undergoing such operations," Dr Gite further added.
