Mangaluru: Nalin Kumar Kateel, the BJP Karnataka president and a Member of Parliament from Dakshina Kannada constituency on Monday performed the last rites of 12 Covid victims reportedly abandoned by their family members. As per reports, the BJP MP carried out the final rites near the Somanatheshwara temple.
"The rites and immersion of ashes in the sea at Someshwar were held near the temple as per tradition," said Kateel, adding that he took the initiative since the families of Covid victims failed to turn up to collect the bodies. Kateel having held the 'Tila Homa' rituals, immersed the ashes of the dead near the beach as per the instructions specified by the state government.
